Illustration Friday - Burning

I enjoy finding my two young daughters books with strong female characters.  The Paper Bag Princess by Robert N. Munsch is a great example.  The eponomous princess stands up to dragons, saves the boy, and then realizes the boy is a jerk and dumps him.  I love it!

The dragon is known for burning everything in its path, including princesses.  However, not even fire breathing dragons can stop this princess.  She's got some serious moxy.  And she's a great role model for young girls.

The texture of the green reads so nicely on the dragon. Nice work.

If you do plan to come please let me know so that we meet up. I would love to hug your neck finally. All the best to you darling.

I love this one, made me giggle, but actually love all your work! I especially like the rejection one, I so get it... All your work is so much fun. And thank you for all your nice comments on my blog! It means so much knowing people are looking and appreciating. IF has exposed me to some amazing artists. Thank you!

Great job on this illo, Michelle, everything works: the composition, the characters, I can almost smell smoke!
You are so prolific and so talented: I love how you draw children and how you're not afraid to try new topics, new characters, perspective, you name it.
You have the right attitude: keep on working and showing your art to agents, art directors and someone will snatch you up!

Love how the girl shows no fear. She is a great role model - tough and determined, even with a face full of smoke.
