Sketching - Cold Press vs. Hot Press

I love cold press, but I don't the shadows that remain after I scan.  Urgh.  Does anyone have any tips for keeping the shadows out of the scans?

Don't get me wrong, I like Hot Press too, but would like to figure out a way to fix the problems with cold press.

Sorry, I don't know how to fix that problem. But, if you find out a fix could you let me know. Thanks.
Love your drawings by the way.

I'm with you on the shadows thing. I haven't figured out a way around it, either. Hopefully someone will come up with the magical solution. If you find out, let me know!

Does your scanner allow you to adjust the curves. On mine it is a little icon in the scanner settings that looks like a graph with a curved line. When you play around with the levels it will make the color levels more or less intense. Also, are you scanning in color mode or black and white. Color mode is much more sensitive and will pick up all the shadows at grays. Resolution will also pick up any erasures if it is set too high. Hope this helps a little bit.

Thanks for the tip Jenn, I'll have to try playing with the curves a bit more!

I'm almost positive Paige Keiser blogged about this awhile back. I wanna say she used Photoshop. I've mean meaning to go back and bookmark her entry about this:)
