I've decided to sketch something each night from our bedtime reading (Laurie Halse Anderson's Chains).   Below is the scene which had the most impact on me from last night's reading.  Isabel, covering for Ruth's giggle, is slapped across the face by Mrs. Lockton.

Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson

We've started reading a new bedtime story in our house: Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson.  We haven't gotten far into the book yet; however, the first several chapters are beautifully written.  It was difficult to put the book down.   After I tucked the girls into bed, I realized that for the first time in weeks, I could sit down and draw without feeling guilty.  (The most pressing boxes from our move have been unpacked!!)  I needed to draw Isabel, Ruth and the haughty Mrs. Lockton.
